Shoe-be-do-be-doo

Even though Thanksgiving was the first day out of the house, I really hardly walked in the shoes.  There was just the 70 steps down the 4 flights of stairs to get out of the building, then about 50 steps to Rachel’s car.  After driving we parked about a 2 block from where dinner was. And as previously mentioned, the shoes came off there.  It was about the same in reverse going home.  So not much real shoe walkin action.  Until today!  What a work out!!

The plans were to meet Debbie at 2:15 for a 2:30 movie at Opera Plaza. I decided to walk over to Taqueria Cancun and get a burrito first.

Then it was time to hop muni!! And though the kids technically did ride public transit after leaving the shoe store, they were safely wrapped in their shoe box. And what better place to experience it than on beautiful Mission Street!! Miraculously enough we didn’t have to wait more than a minute for a bus AND the bus was the 49 which turns into a Van Ness Bus so no transfer was necessary! Hooray!!

And wouldn’t you know it, from having to not wait for a bus at all along with no transfer, I was 35 minutes early!  So there was time to kill. It is important to get them interested in books at an early age.  So first stop, the bookstore formerly known as A Clean Well Lighted Place for Books!

And then Debbie in all her fabulousness showed up!!

And more friends for the twins!!

Then it was a walk down Van Ness to Market to hop the subway. But first came the twins first exposure to public art - The Henry Moore Sculpture in front of Davies Symphony Hall. One of my favorites and now one of their favorites as well.  You know how impressionable youth can be.

And now for that first subway ride!!

Then I left Debbie for a couple hours to do my part as a vain queen and go the gym.

The twins seemed not too impressed by The Castro. They said something to me about “too many tired gay white men”.  I’m not sure where this aversion to whitie comes from. Hmmmmm.

The twins also had their first experience at the gym. They didn’t like that either. But alas, there are no pics to document it. Didn’t seem like it’d be too cool to be snappin pics in the locker room even though “babies first experience being shoved into a gym locker” seems like a Norman Rockwell picture waiting to happen. Maybe some day when the twins are grown up they can forgive me for not recording this precious moment.

Then it was a quick walk over to Debbie and Charles place.

We decided to go out to dinner and walked down to Valencia to Pauline’s Pizza.  So much walking in my new cute shoes!!

The twins loved Paulines!!  Who doesn’t?!!

After leaving Debbie and Charles at 16th and Valencia to wait for a bus, I walked the rest of the way back home.  Just in time for one last pic:

Oh Baby, The Places You’ll Go!
Babies’ first taqueria.  The floors were not that filthy, and I think the twins were rockin out to the jukebox.
The first bus approaches!!
Seats were available.  We even switched once midway through.  Here are the twins getting used to both locations. Ahh, the garbage.
Relieved to be getting off the bus.
And there goes the bus!  Ahh, who doesn’t remember their first muni ride.
I kid you not, this book was actually already sitting there on the floor in that exact location.
Mr. DeMille, the close-up.
Outside Opera Plaza.
Does it get any cuter??
I think not.
Their first movie!!!!  And they jumped straight to adult fare!! No having to be subjected to Disney crap. So if you ever have to decide between having kids or cute shoes......
Exposure to art.
OK, not so exciting a pic. But the twins were ecstatic about it.
First time in the heart of the gay universe, Castro Street and Market. Can you say “over it already”?
First time inside Debbie and Charles’ place!! And look! Debbie has changed shoes. Lookin comfortable, cute, and just as friendly towards the twins as Debbie’s pair earlier in the day!
Charles getting ready to go out. Look at his other cute boots too. So many great friends for the twins!!
Inside Pauline’s. Photo taken by Charles.
Adorable. Nuff said.
OUCH!!
