Happy New Years to all! This is truly my favorite part of the holiday season. When all the dead christmas trees start appearing on the streets, like flowers amongst the concrete, like mushrooms on top of the dung heap, like abandoned starved babies on the steps of churches: the beauty of dead christmas trees abandoned on the streets of San Francisco. They actually start appearing on xmass day, but by New Years they are sprouting up everywhere.
While out with Dick and Jane for a walk on a glorious San Francisco day I realized I needed to introduce them to this precious side effect of the yuletide season. Here are 3 separate trees from just one block (Church Street between 15th and 16th):
I also love the trails of dead pine needles down the hallways and stairwells of my building which the folks that leave them there never seem to think they are supposed to clean up. But I suppose it’s xmass and they’re spreading holiday cheer.......
But it was not an all bleak, full of dead trees kind of day. After all, we were headed over to Debbie and Charles to hang out! So Dick and Jane got to hang out with some of their best friends!
And then on our further travels we ran into Lisa!! Dick and Jane LOVE Lisa!!
And then Dick and Jane met new friend! Here is Jane with Ed and Dan:
And then after a 2 hour stop in the gym, it was time to head home. On the way while walking past a cafe I noticed Cute Guy Mark. I hardly know him, but it was an excellent excuse to go in and chat and introduce him to Dick and Jane. More new friends!! Mark was gracious enough to humor me and have one of his own shoes pose with Dick:
And then home. But then once I got inside, I noticed Dick felt....well....a little sticky. So here is Dick’s first candy, gooey gummy-ish thing that he stepped in (I think Jane is still a virgin in this regard):
All in all, an excellent start to the new year. Except for the gooeyness. But that’s life.
